Did you manage to get to the Doctor Who Experience when it was on in London? If not never mind, you’ll be able to visit it at its new home in Cardiff from 20th July 2012 with its new added exhibits!
Granted, Cardiff is quite a way to travel if you’re coming from outside of Wales but this exhibition is a must see for any Doctor Who fan!
After a compilation film of the Eleventh Doctor’s exploits, you step through a crack in the wall (a TARDIS time crack, not a shoddy piece of workmanship) to see the TARDIS arrive. As you wonder into the control room, you’re thrown into a fight between warring Dalek factions before the Doctor whisks you to safety and that’s when the real fun starts…
At its new home in Porth Teigr in Cardiff Bay, the Doctor Who Experience will show you props and costumes from the show that will make your head spin. All of the previous Doctors clothes are on display, you can step on board the Ninth and Tenth Doctor’s TARDIS sets as well as the Fifth Doctor’s, there’s Cybermen, Zygons, Ice Warriors, all sorts of Daleks and that’s only naming a few.
The creators of the experience have also added some new props including the Doctor’s cradle from A Good Man Goes to War, the Silence spaceship and the Doctor’s sonic cane from Let’s Kill Hitler. There are also some other items that are being kept under wraps until the opening day.
Phillip Murphy, Managing Director of BBC Worldwide live events, pretty much summed up the whole event by stating:
“Visitors to the Experience in Cardiff will be able to fully immerse themselves in the world of Doctor Who.”
