It’s been a long time coming, but thanks to Doctor Who Magazine and the actor’s official website, we now know that David Warner has finally been cast in Doctor Who!
Warner has a considerable history of acting, appearing in earth-based drama as well as a variety of genre material from The Omen to Tron, Twin Peaks to The Outer Limits, and various versions of Star Trek. Currently shooting alongside Game of Thrones‘ Liam Cunningham (pretty big news in itself!), Warner is appearing in Mark Gatiss’ historical episode for Doctor Who Series 7, expected to air in early 2013.
This isn’t the first time Warner has appeared in the show, but is the first time we’ve seen his face.
Previously, the veteran actor has played a (rather wonderful) alternative Doctor in Big Finish’s Doctor Who Unbound series, while more recently he was the voice of the villainous Lord Azlok in Dreamland the animated Tenth Doctor adventure from 2009.

About chuffing time. It was ridiculous when they gave him a part in the animated story and then used sound effects all over his voice! He is one of the most under-rated actors of all time and his Hamlet is said to have been one of the best.
Warner is a living legend. Whatever part he’s playing he’ll be great. Love to see him as the Doctor on screen though.
mr warner would make a fantastic 1st doctor,…just saw him in “cold war”…a brief side-view profile,..for one sec i could see him in the black morning coat and cravat.
