What the world needs, it seems, is another sequel to The Fast and the Furious series of films.
Things that couldn’t be said in the first film have been realised in its many sequels such as 2 Fast 2 Furious, The Fast and the Furious: Tokyo Drift and Fast and Furious, which is when the makers of the series decided that having the word “the” at the beginning of the titles meant that you couldn’t pack as much story in.
“Fast Six” moves into production this month and sees the franchise take the action to Europe with some kind of heist plot mixed in for good measure. Rumour has it that David Tennant has been talking (or Skyping to be more accurate) with the movie’s Director for a possible part in the film. Christopher Eccleston managed to portray a Mancunian gangster in Gone in Sixty Seconds; perhaps Tennant could be a Scottish nemesis for Vin Diesel and his crew across the streets of London and Europe.
Hopefully this won’t actually happen as it would be a shame to see Tennant wasting his abilities on such a dull and sterile franchise but then again you sometimes have to take the work where you can get it.
It would be nice to think that Tennant will get a call to be involved in the 50th anniversary celebrations for Doctor Who and won’t be able to lend himself out for filming of Fast Six; we’ll just have to keep our hopes up!
