It looks like old Piers Wenger has gone from brilliant to even better as the former Doctor Who Executive Producer has been appointed as the Head of Drama for Channel 4 and E4.

Piers was responsible for the 2010 series of Doctor Who and for Helping bring the Eleventh Doctor to life in his first year with 13 weird and wonderful episodes that one the hearts of millions and stole viewers from other channels. He continued to work in the capacity of Executive Producer for the 2011 series as well as the most recent special The Doctor, The Widow and The Wardrobe.

Some of you may not know that he was also Executive Producer for 12 episodes of The Sarah Jane Adventures and for the 2009 Doctor Who animated adventure Dreamland which starred David Tennant as the Tenth Doctor.

The man’s been a Doctor Who legend for years now!

But the more he proved how good he was ultimately meant that he would be offered a bigger job and we now have to soldier on without him in the Whoniverse (we’ll be fine!). But what is our loss first became Film4’s gain just 12 months ago and now as he becomes a Channel 4 man no doubt he has big plans to develop what will surely be some top notch drama serials.

Best of luck to you Piers!

About

What happens when an eight year old kid watches the 1993 repeat run of Planet of the Daleks? He pretty much ends up here writing about the show that grabbed hold of him and never let go!
