Dalek Point of View

Dalek Eyestalk App for iPhone

I fancy the one on the left, personally.

Ever taken a picture and thought to yourself “It’s nice but it would look better if it could be a bit more Dalek-y”? We all have at some point.

Maybe you’ve seen a famous landmark that hasn’t appeared in Doctor Who and pondered just what it would look like give a bit of “Dalek-cam”.

Well now you can wonder no more, clever app creator Paul Gee has come up with Eyestalk, which lets you take pictures through a variety of Dalek viewpoints1

There’s Paradigm style (From Victory of the Daleks), Victory style (again, from Victory of the Daleks), Doomsday style (from Army of Ghosts/ Doomsday) and Power style (from Power of the Daleks). Each recreates a classic “Dalek viewpoint” look for a picture taken on an Apple device and is very, very cool.

You can take photos directly through the Eyestalk app or you can edit old photos you’ve been keeping, there’s also the option to change the style by merely swiping at the screen, no waiting around with endless rendering times. Front and rear cameras can be used so you can even get a picture of yourself as if you were being menaced by Skaro’s finest; it’ll almost be like being in Doctor Who!

The Eyestalk app will work on iPhone (3GS model upwards) and iPad 2 and 3 – available via the App store it costs $1.99/£1.49. Visit www.eyestalk.co.uk for more details.

About

What happens when an eight year old kid watches the 1993 repeat run of Planet of the Daleks? He pretty much ends up here writing about the show that grabbed hold of him and never let go!
