Tennant’s at it again, he’s only gone and bagged himself a major role in a very big BBC drama!
The former TARDIS owner has been cast in the lead role of a new production called Spies of Warsaw, a spy drama set just before World War 2 breaks out.
Based on a novel by bestselling American author Alan Furst, the two part serial will be a co production between the BBC, Polish broadcaster TVP and ARTE France (the BBC do love their co productions don’t they?).
Ben Donald, the Executive Producer for International Drama at BBC Worldwide, commented:
“We have big ambitions for Spies of Warsaw and for making it the beginning of a run of adaptations of Alan Furst’s novels.”
Who knows, maybe this could be a plethora of hits for young Mr Tennant, who will play Colonel Jean-Francois Mercier, an attache at the French Embassy in Warsaw
David will be starring alongside Janet Montgomery of Black Swan (2010) fame and the pair will be directed by Coky Gedroyc who not only directed The Virgin Queen (2007) but also shot the pilot episode for Steven Moffat’s Sherlock, it’s a small world when it comes to Doctor Who connections!
Details of broadcasting dates have yet to be announced but as soon as we know what the what is, we’ll let you all know.

David Tennant doesn’t seem to be able to turn down the money does he! Bet he’s loaded too! Must be bored with homelife!
