Massively is a blog site focused on the world of massive multiplayer online gaming (MMO) and they’ve noticed a Doctor Who reference that we couldn’t let go!
A reader of the site called Torch Light (any relation to a certain Welsh organisation perhaps?) has noticed an image that comes from City of Heroes’ VIP testing servers. Set in an alternative world in spooky dark streets, a police box is clearly visible. Coincidence, you say?
Maybe the parallel world has police boxes where our one doesn’t, you cry? Well that’s all very well and good but the plot for the game also includes time travel elements as well, with something called a “Time Manipulation power set”. Surely, if there was going to be trouble with time there’s only one man that you could expect to turn up?
Either that or it really is just a police box and we’ve all read far too much into this. But somehow, deep down, it feels like this is a nice little nod to the Doctor and the fact that he always turns up when there’s trouble with time.
I wonder if he’s in any other games that we haven’t noticed. Answers on a postcard please!

‘Gardens of Time’ – a FB hidden objects game – has a blue police box in a shot of Carnaby St, London. You can also buy a police box for your garden. There’s also a passing reference to “Doctor? Doctor Who?” by a NPC.
