David Tennant has returned to the acting fold to do what he does best, Shakespeare!
Making up part of BBC Radio 3’s Shakespeare Dramas, Tennant plays Malvolio in Twelfth Night, a comedy of “madness, disguise and love”. We all know that the former tenth Doctor is a bit of a pro when it comes to treading the Shakespeare boards, he even met him once (yes, it was fictional but it’s still funny to think of).
The performance, which is really rather good, forms part of a mini season of Shakespeare plays with bold new productions designed for radio. Romeo and Juliet is next up and the trilogy will be completed with The Tempest, which is basically Lost for the more educated! Mr Tennant will also be appearing in the Romeo and Juliet production as Prince Escalus but that’s not until Sunday.
Twelfth Night clocks in at an agreeable 2 hours and is available to listen to free of charge from the BBC Podcast website. You can either stream the play or you can download it as a podcast to listen to on any fancy device that you have to hand.
