Karen Gillan's first appearance as Amy Pond in The Eleventh Hour

Amy Pond: Wedding Crasher?

Karen Gillan's first appearance as Amy Pond in The Eleventh HourWe all have a Doctor Who girl that has been a special crush. For some it was Jo Grant, for others it was Peri and for very few it was Mel.

But all these wild fantasies aside it’s never been something that’s kept us up at night, well, almost all of us. Maybe, just maybe comedian Richard Herring has hit the nail on the head.

Writing in The Metro newspaper, Richard speaks about the fact that very soon, he is to be married to the woman of his dreams. That is unless Amy Pond comes to her senses and crashes the wedding in order to whisk him off and have her way with him.

Herring takes careful note to mention that it is not Karen Gillan that he has taken a shine to but rather the character she plays in Doctor Who. He’s willing to risk it all for the girl who waited but definitely not the girl who got the job.

Maybe that’s what is really at the core of all out Doctor Who crushes. Maybe Nyssa of Traken is more appealing than Sarah Sutton, perhaps Rose Tyler is more of a character than Billie Piper or maybe Adric is just so much sexier than Matthew Waterhouse could ever be.

As the day of the wedding looms, I’m sure we all wish Richard the very best of luck in the future and keep our fingers crossed that the line between fantasy and reality will cross for just a second so that Amy Pond can drop out of the sky and show him things he never thought possible.

After all, that’s how it all started for her!

What happens when an eight year old kid watches the 1993 repeat run of Planet of the Daleks? He pretty much ends up here writing about the show that grabbed hold of him and never let go!
