Doctor Who: The Krotons

America’s Got Krotons!

Doctor Who: The KrotonsManipulating Doctor Who fans for their mental (and fiscal) powers The Krotons heads to DVD this year, but rather than fight back by learning a bit about chemistry The Doctor Who Site have distracted us with some pretty American DVD box art.

While a UK release date has yet to be confirmed the Region 1 release of the very first script by Doctor Who powerhouse Robert Holmes still has much to recommend it; the tight, uncluttered writing, the haunting, pulsing soundtrack of the Krotons spaceship, and the fantastic debut appearance of the late, great Philip Madoc who steels every bit of cheap scenery around him.

Extras confirmed for the release include:

• Audio Commentary
• Second Time Around
• Doctor Who Stories – Frazer Hines (part one)
• The Doctor’s Strange Love
• Photo Gallery
• PDF materials: Radio Times Listings
• Production Note Subtitles
• Digitally remastered picture and sound quality

Everyone has a favourite Doctor and mine - just for his honesty, his fairness and his ability to not notice the Master's awful, awful disguises/anagrams (Sir Gilles Estram!?!) - has to be the Fifth Doctor, Peter Davison. The stories didn’t serve him as well as his acting served those stories.
