Twisted Showcase – best described as a ‘modern Twilight Zone’ – launched today, and their first short stars former Torchwood star, Gareth David-Lloyd.
The actor who played Ianto Jones plays a man haunted by a voice on the other end of the phone. And the phone just happens to be his own hand. David-Lloyd stars as the two titular roles in Peter and Paul, which took just a day to film.
He told CultBox that he’s a fan of the online medium:
“I am happy to do them if I like the script. It feels like I’m helping to usher in the future of home entertainment.”
While he’d like to guest in Breaking Bad and Game of Thrones, he’s also interested in working behind the cameras:
“I’ve got several ideas brewing in me and I feel like I’ve learned enough to soon have a go at screen writing and directing.
But I need to be confident enough that the stories I want to tell are relevant and that I have the means to tell them properly. I could never write freelance. My attention span is too short to sit down and write other peoples stories for cash.”
Though Ianto was killed in Children of Earth, he still watched Miracle Day, which he described as “great TV,” but maintained that Torchwood “for me, will always belong in Cardiff.”
And maybe – just maybe – we haven’t seen the last of the receptionist-come-hero:
“Ianto is very close to my heart and will always deserve a little resurrection if done properly.”
