Doctor Who chief Steven Moffat with new companion Jenna Coleman

Jenna and the Moff

Doctor Who chief Steven Moffat with new companion Jenna ColemanThough she doesn’t begin filming until May, the first photo of new companion, Jenna-Louise Coleman with The Grand Moff has surfaced, thanks to BBC America.

Obviously, there’s not a lot to take from this image; Doctors and companions always have a photoshoot on the top of a tall building or at the studios when they’re announced – and Jenna’s now had both!

Nothing has been revealed about the character she will play – not even her name – apart from she will be on our screens, taking over from the wonderful Amy and Rory, at Christmas. Photos of Jenna in-character are expected to surface in about two months, possibly amid fake snow and the Doctor in a hat. It’s inevitable, right?

Steven Moffat has previously stated that:

“It always seems impossible when you start casting these parts, but when we saw Matt and Jenna together, we knew we had our girl. She’s funny and clever and exactly mad enough to step on board the TARDIS.”

You can find more photos to gaze at here.
