Doctor Who Convention Preview

Doctor Who Official Convention

This weekend marks the BBC’s first Official Doctor Who Convention, where fans of the series will be able to enjoy various live presentations and discussions with the key people involved with making our favourite show!
The important stuff first: Matt Smith, Karen Gillan, Arthur Darvill and Steven Moffat will all be there, taking part in the theatre session panel Meet the Stars on both days.

But that’s not all, as there is a tremendous roundup of cast and crew in attendance. You can take your pick of the great Nick Briggs, genre TV stalwart Mark Sheppard (Canton Everett Delaware III), Winston Churchill actor Ian McNeice, Dorium Maldovar actor Simon Fisher-Becker and Raquel Cassidy (Cleaves in The Rebel Flesh/The Almost People).

Specialists such as Lindsay Bonaccorsi (costume), Barnaby Edwards (Dalek operator), Neill Gorton (Millennium FX), special FX supervisor Danny Hargreaves, writers Tom MacRae and Gary Russell, Supervising Art Director Stephen Nicholas, Director of Photography Stephan Pehrsson, Production Designer Michael Pickwoad, Executive Producer Caroline Skinner, producer Marcus Wilson, casting genius Andy Pryor and director Julian Simpson.

Events will take place throughout the day, such as:

  • Creators and Directors
  • Meet the Stars
  • Doctor Who Uncut
  • Prosthetics Demonstrations
  • Special Effects Studio
  • Costume and Prop Display
  • Lost Episodes Restoration (with Steve Roberts)

(check times when you arrive at the venue)

Note, of course, that guests are subject to work commitments.

Kasterborous will also be there, in the shape of founder and editor Christian Cawley. He’ll have some very interesting stuff with him, too, so if you spot him, ask him what’s in his bag…

The Doctor Who Convention takes place on Saturday 24th and Sunday 25th March at the Millenium Centre in Cardiff. Head to dwconvention.com for full details about remaining tickets.

Update

We’ve heard from BBC Worldwide today that tickets are no longer available for the event:

The Doctor Who Official Convention is now completely sold out on both days. In order to avoid disappointment please be advised that it will not be possible to purchase tickets at the venue on either day.
