Want to see what went on behind the scenes on location in Aldbourne back in 1971?
The shoot for The Daemons – with Jon Pertwee, Roger Delgado, Nicholas Courtney, John Levene and Richard Franklin all present – took place on several summery days, footage of which was captured on a cine camera and stored for posterity. Aldbourne was the real-life village that was used as the mysterious Devil’s End in the story, and still looks similarly picturesque 40 years on!
“The Daemons on location” is a special feature on the new DVD release of one of the most famous Doctor Who serials ever, and you won’t have to wait too long to have it in your possession.
A new DVD of the classic serial is set to be released on the 26th March – The Dæmons is available to pre-order now from Amazon for just £13.99!

I so miss confidential.
The behind the scenes looks are wonderful.
Is it still coming out on the 26th? I had an email from play.com saying: “Thank you for your recent Play.com order for Doctor Who: The Daemons (2 Discs)
We have recently been informed by the manufacturer of this product that the release date has been changed to 19-Mar-2012.”
Hi Gavinio – just confirmed with BBC Worldwide and it is indeed the 19th – good call!
I suppose it doesn’t really matter when it comes out – the good news is that finally IT IS coming out! So looking forward to seeing how much the Restoration Team have improved its picture quality since its VHS release.
