Somehow – as both a Doctor Who fan and a lover of classic rock (particularly that from the 1970s) – I was completely unaware of this clip until browsing Doctor Who Magazine last night.
The 1973 incarnation of Thin Lizzy – Phil Lynott on vocals and bass, Brian Downey on drums and the one and only Eric Bell on guitar – play an amazing version of the Doctor Who theme tune, the like of which you’ve probably never heard before.
They even added lyrics! Yes, hear legendary rock legend of rock Phil “The Rock Legend” Lynott SINGING some rather nifty lyrics to the Doctor Who theme tune!
AWESOME!
(Okay, I admit, they took a few liberties and dragged Ron Grainer’s original work off in a whole new direction, but still – it’s ACE!)

That is sooooooooooo cool! I can’t believe I never came across this before, as I love Thin Lizzy. Thanks much Christian!
Great find Mr Cawley. I too can’t believe I’ve never heard this… thanks!
