Doctor Who/Star Trek crossover

Doctor Who/Star Trek crossoverAs regular readers will know, the Cybermen will meet the Borg in IDW’s DoctorWho/Star Trek: The Next Generation crossover this May.

In the 8-issue series, now confirmed as Assimilation2, the Doctor, Amy and Rory will meet Captain Jean-Luc Picard on the USS Enterprise.

The two races were perhaps the most logical enemies to appear in the comic, written by Scott and David Tipton and regular Doctor Who comic scribe, Tony Lee, with art by J.K. Woodward. Some may even call the Borgs a bit of a Cyber-rip-off, with both forcing cybernetic advancement upon their victims in order to achieve perfection. Resistance will be deleted. Or whatever the Borg do (“assimilated” – Ed).

BBC Executive Vice President of Home Entertainment and Licensing, Soumya Sriraman said:

“We’re excited by this new adventure for the Doctor and the fact he will be travelling with Jean-Luc Picard and his iconic crew. This makes the perfect partnership for not only for Doctor Who’s incredible fans, but also for the brand, as we have just celebrated our most successful year yet. Doctor Who’s latest series delivered record ratings on BBC America, and the most downloaded TV season in the US on iTunes.”

Am I the only one who thinks this is a bad idea…?

When he’s not watching television, reading books ‘n’ Marvel comics, listening to The Killers, and obsessing over script ideas, Philip Bates (Kasterborous' former Editor) pretends to be a freelance writer. He enjoys collecting everything. He is the co-founder of The Doctor Who Companion: http://thedoctorwhocompanion.com/
