It’s that time of year again when magazines and organizations decide to shortlist their favourite things and offer them up for voting by the public or a panel of “experts”.

We have news today of two separate nominations for our favourite Time Lord and some of his friends, the Virgin Media TV Awards and the National Television Awards.
With so many nominations one would hope that Doctor Who could prove successful, although you have to concede that the competition is pretty tough in both categories.
