Magnus Greel Lives!

Aged to ashes in his own Time Cabinet, a desiccated husk was all that was left of Magnus Greel when we last saw him defeated by the Fourth Doctor in The Talons of Weng Chiang.

But what of Greel’s past? The madman clearly caused a lot of mayhem and trouble before he travelled back in time to London but it’s a story that’s never really been told…until now.

Those wonderful and creative people at Big Finish have decided that this is a story that is too good to pass up and so have enlisted the writing talent of Marc Platt (Ghost Light, Spare Parts) to flesh out life in the 51st Century for the fifth Doctor TARDIS team of Nyssa, Tegan and Turlough.

Forming part of a new trilogy for the dynamic foursome, The Butcher of Brisbane will see the audio realisation of words that were merely uttered by Tom Baker in 1977. The advance of the Filipino Army on Reykjavik, Findecker’s discovery of the double nexus particle and the origins of the Peking Homunculus will all be yours to enjoy. Whether we see a return of Mr Sin is yet to be announced!

The story is the last part in the new Fifth Doctor trilogy which starts in April with The Emerald Tiger by Barnaby Edwards  and continues with The Jupiter Conjunction in May by Eddie Robson.

June cannot come fast enough as it’s been 35 years since we met the fascinating megalomaniac posing as Weng Chiang. Where will his plans take us this time? You’ll have to wait and see!

What happens when an eight year old kid watches the 1993 repeat run of Planet of the Daleks? He pretty much ends up here writing about the show that grabbed hold of him and never let go!

All well and good but wasn’t the fourth doctor talking in the past tense that he was there with the filipino army…so fifth doctor seems an odd choice.

    Still sounds like fun though!

    • He saw it in the Matrix…?
