Former Doctor Who Colin Baker appeared in Channel 4's Come Dine With Me

Come Dine with the Sixth Doctor

Come Dine With Me – Channel Four’s dinner party-a-thon which long gave up on letting people mingle to create drama and instead just forced together people from divergent backgrounds (plus an assortment of auditioned kooks) and left them try to out-cook each other for £1000 while Dave Lamb obnoxiously sneered at them – has snared a Doctor.

Former Doctor Who Colin Baker appeared in Channel 4's Come Dine With MeThis years Panto-themed celebrity Christmas Special (there used to be a time whencelebrities featured in the first week of every new series of the show – therefore reducing Christmas’ importance down to the return of a moderately popular cookery show) saw Colin Baker compete with fellow celebrities to win a grand for there chosen charities.

Despite having faced down the Universes greatest foes the clearly nervous Baker (who hadn’t cooked a proper meal for company for over 30 years) treated ’media personalities’ Linda Nolan of the Nolan Sisters, Big Brother’s ‘nasty’ Nick Bateman, glamour model Bianca Gascoigne and former Coronation Street actor Danny Young to a three course meal.

Rather than starting with Grallistan Punch Baker (who stubbornly refused to bow to a pun and bake something) reached for an old family Salmon Mousse recipe, before heading off to a butchers for a completely spontaneous moment with a Cyberman to buy Pork Shoulder (which he drowned in Olive Oil) before finishing off the night with ‘Berry Christmas’ Chocolate Mousse.

Everyone has a favourite Doctor and mine - just for his honesty, his fairness and his ability to not notice the Master's awful, awful disguises/anagrams (Sir Gilles Estram!?!) - has to be the Fifth Doctor, Peter Davison. The stories didn’t serve him as well as his acting served those stories.
