When Doctor Who first started nearly fifty years ago, spin off merchandise that was official or otherwise was hardly the best.
There was the Doctor Who Annual and later the Target range of novelizations and the birth of good old Doctor Who Magazine. But games and toys were not the strongest output to come from the show.
But with the technological era that we now live in and embrace we also get a myriad of Who related games that would leave a child from the 1960’s speechless (probably). One such technical marvel is a Doctor Who augmented reality game that will be released on smartphone’s this year in time for Christmas.
Augmented games see the user activating the camera on their phone so that it can bring up the surrounding area, characters and enemies are then placed in said area for the user to deal with in that environment. In other words, you could hold your phone up in Waitrose and the game would play out in the supermarket!
This year you’ll be able to walk through the streets with your phone attached to a Cyberman gun controller and blast Daleks to hell!
Want to make the battle of Canary Wharf a reality? Catch a train, sit yourself down, load up your phone and presto! You’re suddenly making your own version of the battle.
This game will be part of the WowWee AppGear collection which will be launching in the coming months, keep your eyes peeled for more exciting details!
