Lundeen’s Masterplan Update

It’s almost 18 months since we brought you the news that Kasterborous regular and one-time contributor (to the final Time Leech strip) Rick Lundeen was working on the mammoth task of creating a free online comic strip version of the partially missing Doctor Who classic The Daleks’ Masterplan.

Rick intends to complete the project and release it right here on Kasterborous in 2013, in time for the show’s 50th anniversary, and if early signs of the first few episodes are anything to go by you’re not going to want to miss it!

We’re honoured to have been asked and will of course endeavour to give Rick’s work the attention it deserves as we approach the big five-oh.

Back in July last year, Rick told us how he got started on the project:

“I did 6 pages that comprised the first part of Episode one, “The Nightmare Begins” picking right up from the end of The Myth Makers. Also did a line up redesigning the Galactic Council to give a few of them a bit more alien feel than the 1965 original budget allowed.”

Since then, of course, things have progressed considerably, and although IDW decided against publishing the serial Rick enthusiasm has seen him reframe shots, redesign members of the council and expertly edit the dialogue. Rick is planning on a weekly release of each chapter of the finished tale in summer 2013, each Saturday night around the time of the original transmissions and ending on the anniversary weekend.

Sounds great, and as you can see it looks damn spiffing as well!
