Doctor Mickey

In the real world outside the Whoniverse (“What?” I hear some of you say, “what world is this that you speak of?”), ex-companion Noel Clarke – Mickey Smith to the Ninth and Tenth Doctors – has had a “boy done good” moment.

Clarke has been conferred as an Honorary Doctor of Arts at the University of East London.

The thirty five year old star of Kidulthood was presented with the award at the London 02 recently and couldn’t be happier about it:

“I love doing what I do and to get an honour for that seems strange, but I’m also very thankful.”

Noel has proved time and time again his versatility and talent in the roles that he has undertaken so it’s fantastic to see him getting some recognition for all the hard work that he does.

Congratulations Mr Clarke!

What happens when an eight year old kid watches the 1993 repeat run of Planet of the Daleks? He pretty much ends up here writing about the show that grabbed hold of him and never let go!

Is he really 35? Bit old for Rose, then wasn’t he? Suppose the Doctor was older, though.

I am so happy that Noel Clarke want that award. Watching his performance evolve from an insecure coward to a brave and confident husband was a remarkable display of his acting chops at work. I hope to see more of him on Doctor Who in the future.
