Christmas Doctor Who!

The BBC has released brief details on the 2011 Christmas Special – revealed last week as being titled The Doctor, the Widow and the Wardrobe – and it looks as though we can expect the adventure to play a big part in the Christmas Day schedule, based on the prominence the BBC are placing on it.

You should have already seen the trailer, but if not you can scoot down to the bottom of the page where you can catch up!

According to the BBC, the special is “gripping”, with Matt Smith joined by a cast including Claire Skinner (Outnumbered), Bill Bailey (Black Books), Arabella Weir (The Fast Show) and Alexander Armstrong (The Sarah Jane Adventures‘ Mr Smith, Armstrong and Miller).

There is plenty of Whovian interest across the Christmas period as ever – The Borrowers has been adapted by the BBC once more, with Ninth Doctor Christopher Eccleston playing Pod. Meanwhile the film also features Stephen Fry, who was famously involved with Doctor Who briefly in the Russell T Davies era (developing an ultimately unused script) as well as playing The Minister of Chance in the oddball Seventh Doctor radio serial Death Comes to Time in 1999.

You can find out more on The Borrowers at Cult Britannia.

Now then, about that trailer….
