Bill Bailey Loves Who

You’ve all seen it by now, the trailer for the 2011 Doctor Who Christmas special: The Doctor, The Widow and The Wardrobe (doesn’t our Mr Moffat love making Doctor Who that little extra bit magical for us?) and no doubt you’re salivating at the tremendous guest stars lined up to appear in the episode.

Not only have we got Claire “Outnumbered” Skinner, Alexander “Mr Smith from The Sarah Jane Adventures” Armstrong and Arabella “The Fast Show” Weir – we’re also being treated to a cameo from comedian and just-generally-talented impresario Bill Bailey!

With four strong professional funny people strutting their stuff, Matt Smith oozing his usual comic flare and a script written by hilarious Mr Moffat, it looks like we’re heading for what could be one of the funniest episodes of Doctor Who in its entire history.

Speaking with EADT24, Bailey revealed that he has been sworn to secrecy about plot details and jokingly comments that Steven Moffat may have tapped his phone to keep an eye on him! But Bailey is also pleased with his cameo as it marks something of a milestone in his career:

“I have a cameo in it and great fun it is too. It’s fulfilled a lifetime’s ambition for me, being a Doctor Who fan.”

Only a matter of weeks now before we get to see what delights are on offer with this Christmas’s Doctor Who adventure, needless to say-it’ll be out of this world…

The Doctor, The Widow and The Wardrobe will be shown on BBC One on 25th December 2011. Bill Bailey’s Dandelion Mind is currently touring.

What happens when an eight year old kid watches the 1993 repeat run of Planet of the Daleks? He pretty much ends up here writing about the show that grabbed hold of him and never let go!

Now all we need is more Dylan Moran to pop up somewhere and the entire cast of “Black Books” will have made a cameo.

  2. Max says:

And Arabella Weir has been a Doctor in the Big Finish Unbound series. She’s great
