Style icon Matt Smith has been thinking about some interesting new headware for the next series of Dcotor Who – and his preferred choice is even more outlandish than a Fez!
As popular as the fez from The Big Bang is (I have my own, although it predates the Doctor’s by a good 10 years) the stetson has been seen already this time around (and who knows, we might see it again…) and of course the Doctor already has a long history of headwear fetish, from the First Doctor’s cold weather headgear to the Eighth Doctor’s wig.
Next time, Matt Smith hopes to be able to don a pork pie hat!
‘I’ve been thinking of hats for next year. I think the pork pie’s quite fun or the Doctor in a fun trilby.’
‘But I think Steven’s going to go for a really ridiculous one. I really like the stetson.’
Ultimately, of course, the days when young white chaps didn’t wear hats (i.e. the 1980s) are long since gone, so why shouldn’t the Doctor once again try and fit in only to betray his alienness by wearing a hat more commonly associated with ska, jazz and blues musicians?

Actually I’d love to see him wear a traditional Fedora. I was in a kid’s clothing store recently here in Canada and they actually had Fedora hats for kids – apparently, for some reason, they’re making a bit of a comeback.
How about brining back Troughton’s hat from “Power of The Daleks” and “Highlanders”?
Having already established the most wide ranging and eclectic tastes in hats, he could probably make anything work. And will probably start a few new fashion trends….
