Who’s the Sexy New Companion?

Eagle-eyed BBC-philes may recognize the barely-noticed new Doctor Who companion Mels as former EastEnder Syd Chambers, love interest to fictional Whovian Bradley Manning.

She is of course the stunning actress Nina Toussaint-White, whose presence in the second half of Doctor Who Series 6 has been kept very quiet indeed. As you can see here, there are promotional images of her character, a friend of Amy and Rory, but very little else in the way of detail has been revealed.

Thanks to a single promo image that we featured on Kasterborous last week, we know she travels in the TARDIS in Let’s Kill Hitler but somehow the BBC omitted to include her in any of the trailer clips. So, a new girl in the TARDIS who doesn’t appear in the trailers?

Could she play a more important role in proceedings than we’re currently aware? It’s crushingly easy to speculate, but we’re sure that if this character has been hidden from clips of one episode then the same could be true of episodes later in the series.

Interesting. Take it from us, she’s one to watch…

    Mels you say?

Oh dear. Bit close to Mel for my liking….

Yes just what I was thinking. Ms Pond rather than Ms Bush, one hopes…

Or hopefully a completely new character

Oh, come on – this is not Melanie Bush. The name is different, and the actor is different – only the Doctor and the Master and Romana get to be done by different actors in this show. Now, ask me if Mels might be short for Melody, and bear in mind Alex Kingston is absent from clips related to Let’s Kill Hitler too…
