So the TARDIS is Solar Powered?

There have been many explanations as to what powers the TARDIS- The Eye of Harmony, the heart of the TARDIS, Mercury, Zeiton 7, Mr. Fusion, Leaded, Unleaded, you name it – only from now on it appears as though it’ll be powered by something a little more within our own Solar System.

Business Green reports that solar panel suppliers Krannich Solar and installation specialist Ecofirst have announced they have completed the installation of a 50 kw Photovoltaic solar array at the new BBC Wales Studios which is set to become the primary filming location for the series.

Commissioned by nPower the project consisted of building 200 SunTech solar panels and three inverters in time for filming to commence next month.

Juan Romera-Wade, Chief Executive at Krannich Solar said:

“We are delighted to be part of such an important project in an area of Cardiff that is now in the process of huge regeneration.”

No pun intended.

A further boost from the 50 kw capacity of the solar array also means that the BBC avoid cuts to the Feed-in Tariff incentives offered by the Government that came into force from this month on installations with over 50 kw capacity.

Everyone has a favourite Doctor and mine - just for his honesty, his fairness and his ability to not notice the Master's awful, awful disguises/anagrams (Sir Gilles Estram!?!) - has to be the Fifth Doctor, Peter Davison. The stories didn’t serve him as well as his acting served those stories.
