Day of the Daleks Special Edition

Doctor Who - Day of the DaleksAs you all may well be aware by now, Day of the Daleks is being released on DVD in September and it’s going to be a very special edition indeed!

As well as being packed with special features, the release will have updated CGI graphics mixed into it for all new Dalek extermination effects and to also help realise the ruins of “future Earth” in a way that wasn’t possible in the 1970’s. On top of that, Nicholas Briggs has re-dubbed the Dalek voices to replace the slightly effeminate ones that were heard in the original release of the adventure.

Ahead of the release itself, you can also grab an exclusive look right here at Kasterborous of the cover artwork for the forthcoming release to whet your whiskers and give you a heads up of what it will look like on your DVD shelf!

This release looks set to be one of 2|entertain’s most ambitious projects yet, so give it your full attention and start getting excited for September 12th, when the two-disc box is released – and in the meantime, put your order in at Amazon, where Day of the Daleks is listed at an amazing £12.93!

I hope this will still have the option of allowing the original effects and vocal work to be heard as well.

Whilst I don’t mind restoration, not being able to to see the story as close to originally recorded as possible smacks of vandalism. Like what George Lucas did to the original Star Wars films, or Star Trek Remastered.

It would have taken you moments to find out that the reason this is a two disc set for a 4 part story is that disc one is the original and disc two the special edition.

althought I dont think of it as vandalism, but as a better way to enjoy something that needed fixing. I probably wont watch the original ever again ,as i have done likewise for all the releases (except the abysmal Planet of Fire) and thats why the originals have always been included in every release.

All the new stuff is on the second disc. The first disc is as nature intended.

Wow! This sounds great! Does anyone have a US release date for it?

  5. avatar Tetraps says: list US release date as September 13, 2011
