River’s Lucky Day

It’s coming. And sooner than expected. In fact River’s Lucky Day will be on the Saturday the 23rd of July 2011.

For on that day archaeologists from around the world will come together to celebrate ‘Shag an Archaeologist Day”. It’s true. It must be, Facebook told me!

Quite how Professor Song is planning to celebrate the day has yet to be confirmed, especially as it falls during the mid series break. Speculation of a cameo appearance in Torchwood: Miracle is probably a little premature.

When pressed for a comment Captain Jack Harkness stated that “While not actually an archaeologist I would be more than happy to help Professor Song celebrate should I receive the call. Or, you know, meet her in a bar on the day. Or the day after actually.”

Early speculation that the Doctor may help Professor Song celebrate has been revealed to have been merely gossip after the Doctor chased this reporter from the doorstep of his TARDIS earlier in the week. A statement, released later on from his office at UNIT HQ, read “I will not be helping Professor Song, or any other archaeologist, to celebrate ‘Shag an Archaeologist Day”. They all had their chance last week when it was “Hug a Scientist Day”. Where was the media interest then? Come to think of it where were the hugs?  If they want any further comment than that, Pond, then they can [expletive deleted]!”

Rumours of her spending the day with a colleague in the 30s have yet gain any kind of substance. When approached for a comment Doctor Henry Jones Jr refused to answer his door and subsequently sneaked out of his office window.

All we can be certain of at this point in time is that Professor Song has some celebrating to do and we’re certain she’ll find some way to celebrate.

So, how are you planning to celebrate?

About the Author

Alasdair Shaw dabbled in Who throughout the 80s, but didn’t really get into it properly until 1989. His sense of timing has not improved over the years. He’s a third generation Who fan as well as a father of two. His wife has a bad feeling about those two facts. When not working as a lab technician or writing for Kasterborous Alasdair runs the Doctor Who Reprint Society for which he writes In Print and Dangling Threads. He’s a big fan of the Valeyard, but that’s neither here nor there. He has never worked for UNIT and is not related to Dr Liz Shaw.
