New Monster is a Scream!

The Doctor has a new foe in town and he promises to be a scream!

The Screamer – a monster concocted by 12 year-old Jessica Rickarby – was the winner of the nationwide Design a Monster competition run by Doctor Who Adventures magazine to create a creature to that would not only feature in a comic strip in DWA but also be turned into a ten inch model which can currently be seen stalking the corridors of the Doctor Who Experience in Kensington Olympia.

The competition was judged by the editorial staff at DWA, who had to sift through thousands of entries from around the country.

Editor Natalie Barnes particularly liked the monster’s M.O:

“As soon as we saw the Screamer we knew that Jessica’s creation was the winner. With the ability to render its victim unconscious by screaming in its face, the Screamer was so original and so scary, we had to ask the model-maker to make sure it wasn’t too terrifying for adults!”

The model will be on display for three months before being returned to Jessica for her to keep.

She also received a family pass to the Experience where she can look upon her creation.

Everyone has a favourite Doctor and mine - just for his honesty, his fairness and his ability to not notice the Master's awful, awful disguises/anagrams (Sir Gilles Estram!?!) - has to be the Fifth Doctor, Peter Davison. The stories didn’t serve him as well as his acting served those stories.
