Sixth Doctor Flip’s the Companion

The Sixth Doctor is to get a new audio companion and its an old friend. Lisa Greenwood will reprise her role of Philippa ‘Flip’ Jackson in a three episode mini-series starting in January 2012.

The young Essex girl Jackson had previously featured in The Crimes of Thomas Brewster where she and friend Jarod took a tube ride to another planet while the Doctor found himself caught in a battle of wits with time travelling Victorian guttersnipe Thomas Brewster.

A moment of like minded clarity between Executive Producer Nicholas Briggs and Line Producer David Richardson during work on Thomas Brewster saw the likable, brave Flip elevated to companion status.

Lisa Greenwood can next be seen in BBC2′s new flagship drama series The Hour, a complicated and exhilerating look behind the scenes of a broadcast news room in London, 1956 written by BAFTA Winner Abi Morgan (Sex Traffic)

About the Author

Everyone has a favourite Doctor and mine - just for his honesty, his fairness and his ability to not notice the Master's awful, awful disguises/anagrams (Sir Gilles Estram!?!) - has to be the Fifth Doctor, Peter Davison. The stories didn’t serve him as well as his acting served those stories.
