Trouncing Royal Weddings and topping its own records, Doctor Who is absolutely dominating the BBC iPlayer service.
Kate & Wills’ nuptials received a right royal bashing from Doctor Who. The ceremony was beaten in iPlayer downloads by Day of the Moon which has been viewed 1.07 million times in the four days it has been available compared to the 0.62 million times The Royal Wedding Service has been downloaded since Friday.
That’s not the only good news. The Impossible Astronaut could very well over take The Eleventh Hour as the most downloaded programme ever!
The series opener has already accessed over 1.2 million times in the 12 days since its transmission, nearly three times higher than any other programme available over the same period. During the first week the show has been accessed 1.38 million times compared to The Eleventh Hour‘s haul of 1.27 million during the same period.

As the weeks go by the evidence piles up.
Overnight ratings + Appreciation ratings + Critical Acclaim + Iplayer ratings + Increasing popularity overseas = By far the most popular original British drama on British TV.
I look forward to an article reflecting this good news in any British tabloid sometime soon.
