Dis-continuity?

Continuity. If there’s one word within Doctor Who fandom that can spark debates that can last for hours, it’s that one word.

We love a bit of it, working out the history of the Daleks or the Cybermen, factoring in the Time War to certain events of the Doctor’s life to make more sense of everything (yes, events in The Ark contradict events in The End of the World but it was a ripple effect from the Time War you see?) and even looking back to see where The Silence could have popped their menacing bulbous heads up in the Doctor’s previous lives only to be forgotten about a split second later.

For some it is a never ending joy to work out all these dates and events and put them in order and for others, a nightmare.

Which is why a helpful Doctor Who fan called Nathan The Nerd has created a timeline of events for the Doctor and his friends for the first six years of “NuWho”.

Twisting and turning like a twisty turney thing, the (admittedly hard to focus on) timeline amps out events that occour within the Ninth, Tenth and Eleventh Doctor’s lives and also links events from the past and the future to help make more sense of them, River Song’s timeline being one of those in question.

A lot of work has clearly gone into this and it’s definitely worth having a look at. Just make sure that you’ve got a few headache tablets to hand as it can be a little much to wrap your head around at first…

What happens when an eight year old kid watches the 1993 repeat run of Planet of the Daleks? He pretty much ends up here writing about the show that grabbed hold of him and never let go!
