Tennant the Vampire Slayer

Since leaving Doctor Who in 2009 (such a long time ago now) David Tennant has had multiple drama roles that have received him much acclaim. However, his big break in America has yet to come; Rex is Not Your Lawyer dwindled somewhat and eventually proved unsuccessful in being picked up for a full television series.

It seems that a change is in the air now, as the remake of the 1985 film Fright Night, a slightly tongue-in-cheek-vampire horror film sees Tennant star in one of the lead roles that of Peter Vincent, a Las Vegas magician who gets caught up in some trouble whilst trying to prove that vampires don’t exist.

The plot of the movie sees teenage horror film fan Charley Brewster discover that his next door neighbour is actually a vampire, something that Charlie has a hard time convincing everyone else of.

It’s a perfect role for Tennant who is something of a showman anyway and the poster showing off his character certainly looks dramatic and, if we’re honest, quite cool.

The lead role will be played by Anton Yelchin, who played Chekov in the most recent Star Trek film and Colin Farrell will apparently be playing the menacing vampire-next-door role.

Filmed in 3-D to make sure that audiences are given a good scare here and there, this could well prove to be David Tennant’s role that lands him more and more parts in Hollywood and the film world.

We’ll find out in October when the film is released!

What happens when an eight year old kid watches the 1993 repeat run of Planet of the Daleks? He pretty much ends up here writing about the show that grabbed hold of him and never let go!
