Companion Crazy!

BBC America is in high gear on an extreme video-producing spree to get the word out about Doctor Who Series 6!

Seriously, we’re not sure we’ve ever seen so many promotional videos – for anything – released in such mass quantities all at once!  Our computers are literally overheating from all the new YouTube videos we’ve pulled up, and that is in no way an exaggeration.  We’ll be handing them over to you in small chunks today, starting with these two companion-centric clips…

Inside Doctor Who #4

Continuing their pattern of short behind-the-scenes segments (here’s Parts One, Two, and Three), BBC America has now released Doctor Who Insider clip #4, which examines the Doctor’s three companions in Series 6 – Amy Pond, Rory Pond nee Williams, and River Song.  Featuring a never-before-seen shot of Pirate Amy from The Curse of the Black Spot!

Arthur in America

Rory actor Arthur Darvill didn’t attend last year’s cast expedition to America, as sadly he didn’t count as a companion at the time, so this year BBC America seems to have followed him around with a camera away from Matt and Karen as he soaked in his first experiences of New York.  Here he tries his first slice of New York pizza (which looks huge even for this writer, who lives in Texas), and his first New York hot dog…

No, these are definitely NOT the last BBC America adverts we have to show you, so just get used to watching ‘em!

Doctor Who returns with The Impossible Astronaut Saturday at 6pm on BBC One and BBC One HD, 9/8c on BBC America, and 8/7c on SPACE in Canada.

(With thanks to Other Rory)

‘Hello everyone! I’m Amy’s imaginary friend…but I came anyway’ is still one of my all time favorite lines from the entire history of the show and delivered perfectly by Smith. I think the Doctor is everybody’s imaginary friend. I know sometimes when I’m in a bit of trouble I kinda wish he was around or I try to think what he might do in the situation. I’m being silly but anyways…can’t wait til see the new episode tomorrow :D
