Astronaut Lands Down Under

The Doctor is coming to a land down under. The air date for The Impossible Astronaut has been confirmed as 19:30pm Saturday 30th April- a full week later than the rumoured UK debut on Saturday 23rd April.

Series 6 opens with the first of a two-part adventure, the first to launch a series since Russell T Davies revived Doctor Who back in 2005. Starring Matt Smith as the Doctor with Karen Gillan as Amy, Arthur Darvill as Rory and Alex Kingston as River Song, the adventure features guest appearances from Stuart Milligan (Jonathan Creek, Dreamland) as US President Richard Nixon and Mark Sheppard (name a US TV show; he’s been in it) as the wonderfully named Canton Everett Delaware III; rumour has it that Sheppard’s father, William Morgan Sheppard, will play an older version of the character.

The show, which will air on ABC1, will be also be available via the networks own iView online catch up service.

ABC is not able to broadcast before the BBC so in anticipation of the Easter weekend broadcast the network has announced their broadcast a week later – on a date that falls after the annual ratings are announced – a show of faith in Doctor Who’s popularity.

Everyone has a favourite Doctor and mine - just for his honesty, his fairness and his ability to not notice the Master's awful, awful disguises/anagrams (Sir Gilles Estram!?!) - has to be the Fifth Doctor, Peter Davison. The stories didn’t serve him as well as his acting served those stories.
