The BBC have released a fascinating new image to accompany the recent trailers and prequels for The Impossible Astronaut, the first episode of the new series of Doctor Who.
Featuring the Doctor, Rory and Amy (Matt Smith, Arthur Darvill, Karen Gillan) seemingly reflected in the visor of a spacesuit, the image can be downloaded in two sizes, 4:3 and 16:9, suitable for traditional and widescreen displays.
We think you will agree that this is a pretty stunning image… although we’re not too certain why the writing on the TARDIS is the right way around if the time travellers are being reflected in the visor.
On first glance this could be an error, but given the intricacies with which The Grand Moff tends to weave clues throughout his Doctor Who stories it could also be a sneaky clue to something.
To what, we don’t quite know. But certainly something.

The Doctor’s side parting would be the other way if reflected in a mirror too but then it might look a bit strange. If it bothers you that much just flip the image
But if you just flip the image, the United States of America flag ends up the wrong-way round… lol.
Put it down to the TARDIS tranlation circuits automatically compensating for the mirror image.
I’d go with the translation circuit thing too, except than Carn has made a great point about the Doctor’s parting. Maybe the Doctor just decided on a change that morning?
Thinking back to series 5, there were many errors that people assumed were clever plot devices… turned out they were just errors after all
My money is on shoddy proof reading (or whatever the photo-equivalent is) and nobody noticed the writing or the Doctor’s hair, whilst at the same time hoping it’s a really clever piece of mis-direction by The Moff and I’m made to eat my words.
