Sci Fi Celebration!

Coming up on March 19th and 20th is a celebration of all things science fiction at the Leicester National Space Centre and it’s going to have some pretty special guests as well.

Appearing will be mastermind Gerry Anderson, responsible for such shows as Thunderbirds and Captain Scarlet. But that’s not why you’d really want to go; the real reason is that there’s going to be a host of Doctor Who goodies for you to drool over on the two days.

For the launch of their new book VFX regarding the BBC Visual Effects department, Mat Irvine and Mike Tucker will be appearing at the event to talk about their work for television shows such as Red Dwarf and none other than Doctor Who!

An array of props and costumes will be on display but don’t try going near any, they’ll be closely guarded by an army of Daleks!

You needn’t worry too much about the Daleks however, as appearing alongside writer James Moran (2008’s The Fires of Pompeii), who will be talking about writing science fiction, will be none other than K-9 himself!

More guests are yet to be announced but if you’re a Doctor Who fan then surely that’s more than you need to go along!

You can find out more about the event by visiting www.spacecentre.co.uk.

What happens when an eight year old kid watches the 1993 repeat run of Planet of the Daleks? He pretty much ends up here writing about the show that grabbed hold of him and never let go!
