Yarr! Shiver me woodwork! Â Walk the 2 by 4! I suppose if pirates are surrounded by wood most of the time you’d have to come up with inventive ways to descirbe planks. Walking said planks in exotic Charlestown, Cornwall Karen Gillan was snapped wielding a cutlass for scenes from the third episode of Series 6.
Wrapped up against the cold in a long blue coat Karen was spotted practicing her swashbuckling moves and pirate dodging skills as well as ticking off a pirate movie cliche by rope swinging across the ship.
The preceding scenes see either Rory or the Doctor being forced to walk the plank after the Time Lord and his Assistant come into contact with the rum drinking scurvy dogs.
Captain of the Scurvy Dogs will be Downton Abbey star Hugh Bonneville who’ll be fulfilling a life long dream when he appears in Doctor Who when it returns this Spring.

I love it! I think it’s really cool that we’re getting a full-out pirates episode. I have my fingers crossed that it’s a straight historical, too. The best thing about these clips is they don’t give away what Amy will be wearing in the scene (it’s obviously a rehearsal). Hopefully it’ll be more Elizabeth Swann-like!
Can we please insert a spoiler warning on this news story? Way too easy to think it’s about something Karen is doing that is not Who – when in fact it’s a whopping big spoiler for Series 6 (or whatever we’re calling it this time around).
