Doctor Who Scoops SFX Awards

Donning it’s best tuxedo and striding about like a peacock who’s just won the Pools, Doctor Who scooped five awards at this years SFX Weekender!

The event, taking place at the glamorous Camber Sands Holiday Camp, East Sussex, is the second time the nonpareil sci-fi magazine has opened its doors to geeks and celebs alike, and again Doctor Who, putting the NTA awards farce behind it, was richly rewarded with Best TV Show and Best Actor/Actress gongs for both Matt Smith (beating David Tennant) and Karen Gillan.

Matt Smith used his acceptance speak to praise the magazine’s 3D lenticular cover from last April while Karen Gillan ‘woooahed’ away while remembering to thank everyone involved in the show for their sterling work.

The show also won the Sci-Fi Phenomenon award which was picked up by head honcho himself Steven Moffat.

Character also received the nod for Best Collectible, Model or Toy for their Eleven Doctors Action Figure Set.

Everyone has a favourite Doctor and mine - just for his honesty, his fairness and his ability to not notice the Master's awful, awful disguises/anagrams (Sir Gilles Estram!?!) - has to be the Fifth Doctor, Peter Davison. The stories didn’t serve him as well as his acting served those stories.
