Gillan Leads by Example

As reported previously Karen Gillan is not only a red headed sexpot but also an ambassador for her craft. The Doctor’s leggy companion recently became Eden Court’s Arts Education Ambassador and now others are following her shining example (kind of an ambassador for ‘Keeping it real’, then.)

Kati Kozikowska, arts education manager, for the Inverness theatre, said:

“I think Karen has inspired a lot of our participants. She started where they are now. Anything’s a possibility and she has shown that, but it doesn’t matter what training you have, you still have to have the passion and the drive to succeed.

We’re hoping, as long as you can fit in with her filming commitments, that she will be able to come up and get involved, but she very much wants people to know that if she did it, anyone can do it if they work hard enough. And Eden Court is a pretty good place to start.”

The theatre offers a host of course for creative arty types starting with a ‘bunny beats’ dance class for 3 year-olds, a creative writing class for all you budding Terrance Dicks and an Electronic Sound Production Course (a degree in Kraftwork?)

But its not just the internet savvy, young go-getters that are signing up for courses, adults as well, have been scribbling down their John Hancock for jazz and choir classes. Numbers have been so high amongst adults that the theatre are looking to expand into further performance classes.

Everyone has a favourite Doctor and mine - just for his honesty, his fairness and his ability to not notice the Master's awful, awful disguises/anagrams (Sir Gilles Estram!?!) - has to be the Fifth Doctor, Peter Davison. The stories didn’t serve him as well as his acting served those stories.
