Series 6: No Classic Monsters?

Doctor Who Executive Producer Piers Wenger spoke to website Crave Online (not a John Craven fansite as I had initially thought) recently about the upcoming Series 6/Season 32, where he seemed to suggest that there would be no returning monsters.

Or would there?

While there are mentions of the Daleks in Doctor Who Magazine (not to mention “won’t go away” rumours about Cybermen), when asked if we could expect to see any villains with an axe to grind, Piers remarked:

“No, we’re bigger fans of new monsters. That’s where we are. I think Steven’s written the best new “Doctor Who” monsters in a long time in the [season] opening two-parter. That’s where our energies are focused, really.”

Which would be extremely fascinating in a sort of Tom Baker era way (in seven years the Fourth Doctor encountered the Daleks twice, the Sontarans twice, the Cybermen once) if it wasn’t for the fact that when asked about the Weeping Angels, Wenger said:

“You’ll have to wait and see.”

So which is it, Frenchy?
