Young Doctor Who fans in Cumbria are being challenged to read two books and listen to two audio books in order to win a certificate and enter a prize draw!
It’s yet another example of how Doctor Who is being used to educate children and inspire them to read; Cumbria Library Service have teamed up with BBC Audiobooks to challenge youngsters from the Whitehaven area to complete the reading record, which also features a quiz and puzzle to solve.
Each youngster has until January 9 to complete it, at which point they will be give the certificate and prize, and their name will be put into a draw. A great selection of Doctor Who merchandise will then be awarded as an overall prize!
We think this is a superb idea and it does seem to be a pattern thiat is repeated across the country from time to time. Are BBC Audiobooks/latterly AudioGO engaging directly with local councils and library services to promote Doctor Who in this way? If so, good on them!
