With Doctor Who: The Complete Fifth Season hitting shelves across the length and breadth of Britain Matt Smith and Karen Gillan have yakking to all and sundry, letting slip a few details about this years Christmas Special.

Before signing copies of the DVD at HMV Oxford Street the pair popped into Radio 1 to confirm the rumours that Welsh Soprano and Kasterborous favourite Katherine Jenkins (or ‘Jenkers’ if you’re Karen Gillan) WILL be singing in the episode.

Smith also revealed that Radio 1 will be airing a Doctor Who special for the Christmas episode at the end of the month with more details to follow.

If that didn’t seem earth shattering enough for you Smith, a mere 24 hrs later, was waxing lyrical to  USA Today about what else we can expect from the special other than some very fine warbling:

“There’s lots of snow, crackers and turkey, and that goes hand in hand with the spirit of The Doctor and Doctor Who, really. He loves Christmas. It’s showcasing humans at their most open and giving and kind. It’s everything The Doctor’s about.

I had great fun making it because obviously it was the middle of July and there’s loads of fake snow.”

With Doctor Who filming season six’s opening two-header stateside shortly Smith also let slip he wouldn’t mind making the move a permanent one:

“It’s cool. I like it out there,” Smith says of the USA. “You know what, man, I wouldn’t say no to living in New York because I love that city, and I wouldn’t say no to living in L.A. because I want to have my breakfast by a pool.”
