Finn Jones, the up and coming young actor who recently portrayed Santiago Jones (no relation) in The Sarah Jane Adventures has bestowed nothing but praise for current Doctor Matt Smith and would relish the chance to work on the show again.
Finn recently appeared in Death of the Doctor and helped the Bannerman Road group and the Doctor to defeat the dastardly Shansheeth. He recently offered Doctor Who Magazine his thoughts on Matt and the show itself:
“You learn from everyone all the time. Working with Matt was a complete eye-opener, just to see him come on set so energetic, and so with-it and so confident in what he does. He’s only a few years older than me [Smith is 27, Jones is 23], and he’s a big inspiration . . .I’m just starting out, so I learn all I can…I have a day job, I work in a bar, and I’ve a lot of good, solid friends, so that keeps me sane.
“If they offered me more Santiago and I’m free, then definitely. I wouldn’t give it a second thought, really. Fighting aliens, being cool, saving the planet – it’s all so cool. There’s nothing bad about being in the world of Doctor Who.â€
So, it looks like we’ll be seeing more of Santiago in the future hopefully but everything depends on scripts and timing. It certainly would be a fantastic premise to have the grandson of Jo Grant helping out the companion that took her job afterwards!
But what’re your thoughts? Would you like to see more of the well travelled Santiago or would you prefer that he stayed up the Amazon?!
