The developer of the spectacular WhoNews iPhone App (See that banner up on the top of the page beneath our logo? Yes, that app) has pledged to donate 100% of profits for the app to charity for a month, beginning yesterday, November 23rd, or as we sci-fi-programme-anniversary-trackers prefer to call it, the 47th Doctor Who Day.
As Paul Gee, the creator of the app, puts it,
“Recently the cousin of my step-children was diagnosed with Leukaemia. Andrew Brown is only 12 years old and recently underwent chemotherapy for the condition which thankfully seems to be in remission but Andrew still has to have a lot of treatment. He hopes to be granted a wish from the Make-A-Wish Foundation which grants wishes to children and young people fighting life threatening illnesses.”
Thus, from now until mere days before Christmas, any profit Gee makes from your purchase of the WhoNews app will go directly to the Make-A-Wish Foundation, so that children like Andrew can benefit from the organization’s practices.
Paul also tells us that support for the first day has seen the app pushed to No 2 in the iTunes news chart, raising almost £150 in the process!
If you don’t know what WhoNews is, suffice it to say that if you purchase the app for your iPhone, iPod Touch, or iPad, you’ll have breaking Doctor Who News pulled from over 20 sites, including Kasterborous, for you to read on the go, even when you’re not connected to the internet, at your leisure. For more information, including screenshots, click here.
