Is the Doctor on Thin Ice?

After the success of the Colin Baker “Lost Stories” that Big Finish produced, more of the same was inevitable. Which is obviously a good thing! And so now we have the season 27 to enjoy that we never got thanks to Doctor Who’s original cancellation in 1989.

The first release of this special lost season is Thin Ice, a story written by Marc Platt and developed for audio by original Script Editor of the McCoy era; Andrew Cartmel and the cover can now be viewed by visiting Big Finish’s website.

Thin Ice tells the story of the Doctor and Ace visiting Moscow in 1967, where the Soviets are experimenting with a cache of Martian weapons. It introduces Ricky Groves as Creevy and John Albasiny as Felnikov, while Beth Chalmers – who arrives as the Doctor’s new companion Raine Creevy in the following story – plays Raina. Beth’s two characters apparently have a “very significant link”…

Thin Ice is released in April 2011 (which will come sooner rather than later, trust us…) so head over to www.bigfinish.com to find out more details about this special season that we never got to see.

Featuring the Seventh Doctor and Ace, Thin Ice is available to preorder on CD or download priced at £14.99.

What happens when an eight year old kid watches the 1993 repeat run of Planet of the Daleks? He pretty much ends up here writing about the show that grabbed hold of him and never let go!
