Ianto Jones Still Dead

For all those that were hoping for a return of Ianto Jones in the near future… I’m sorry, I’m so sorry.

Doctor Who show runner Steven Moffat has confirmed via Twitter that he has no plans to resurrect the character even though there has been popular demand. Ianto (Gareth David-Lloyd) was killed in the 2009 mini epic Torchwood:  Children of Earth, much to the dismay of many fans. And those same fans have been asking if Ianto will be coming back to which Moffat Tweeted:

“Ianto fans only: Russell [T. Davies]’s character, and I thought his death scene was brilliant. Not reversing it. Stop asking. [sic]… Torchwood is Russell’s – nothing to do with me.”

However, in Russell T Davies’ world, nothing is quite so final. Captain Jack has been killed and resurrected numerous times, his Torchwood team mate Suzie was also bought back from the dead so nothing is set in stone.

However at this time, it’s probably best to assume that Ianto is dead and buried and not coming back. Unless he comes back.

Torchwood: The New World will air in 2011.
