A True Gentleman

Sussex writer Jamie Hailstone was one of the lucky writers to have their Doctor Who short story published in the current Short Trips audio book from Big Finish.

The former journalist is a lifelong fan of the series and was understandably thrilled to learn that his story had been accepted. A True Gentleman is a story featuring the Third Doctor, Bessie and is set in Scotland…

“It’s based in the Highlands, as my mum comes from Scotland, and is about a young boy who gets caught up in a mini-adventure with the Doctor – something we all dream.

“While he experiences the Doctor dealing with an inter-galactic, diplomatic incident, the boy gets the puncture in his bike tyre mended into the bargain.”

To complement Jamie’s story perfectly, Big Finish cast Katy Manning to narrate it, adding a welcomne veneer of credibility; Manning starred as Jo Grant alongside Pertwee from 1971-1973.

“She is an amazing actress and has done such a fantastic job with it.

“The story is told by the boy in the first person, and she has made a tremendous job of bringing him to life.”

Short Trips Volume 1 is released on November 30th on CD and MP3 and features 8 titles (including one written and read by Sixth Doctor Colin Baker) – find out more at www.bigfinish.com!
