Another day and yet another awards show is on the horizon, with Doctor Who as one of the candidates for a win.
The Writers Guild of Great Britain has nominated Doctor Who for one of its prestigious awards in the Best Television Drama Series category and the show is up against not only last years winner, Being Human (written by The Vampires of Venice creator Toby Whithouse) but also sci-fi cop drama Ashes to Ashes.
The guild is a trade union for professional writers and the awards are deemed to be prestigious because the work of writers is honoured by their peers and colleagues.
Writers involved with Doctor Who Series Five include: Steven Moffat, Mark Gatiss, Simon Nye, Toby Whithouse and Chris Chibnall.
This would be a huge award to win and, let’s face it; the other shows are great but stick to a stricter formula. Hopefully Doctor Who is a shoe in to win!
The awards ceremony takes place on Sunday, 21st November 2010
